MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT**OPEN TO TRIBAL CITIZENS**
Job Description
Under the supervision of the Lead Maintenance person, perform a wide variety of custodial/maintenance and grounds duties in order to provide a clea, orderly and safe environment and well maintained grounds. Perform other related work as required.
Duties
- Perform routine and comprehensive custodial service of assigned facilities.
- Vacuums, shampoos and spot cleans carpets and furniture, washes accessible windows.
- Removes trash and recycling in accordance with established procedures
- Cleans and disinfects restrooms, cleans public areas and offices as scheduled
- Responds to requests for assistance as directed by lead person
- Maintains inventory and submits requests for supplies to lead person
- Performs, under direction, preventative maintenance in Tribal buildings and on the reservation
- Maintains reservation grounds and play fields; weeds, edges, mows and provides a variety of grounds maintenance service
- Provides routine maintenance and repairs to grounds keeping equipment as assigned
- Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
Must have knowledge of methods of maintaining, cleaning and preserving a variety of surfaces, proper use of a wide range of chemicals in accordance with regulations, basic landscape maintenance knowledge and other basic maintenance and grounds keeping skills. Graduation from High School or completion of a GED or any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Must possess a valid (Class C) California driver's license and an acceptable driving record-must be insurable. Must be able to perform physical activities, such as but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must be able to work safely in an environment containing caustic chemicals, cleaning materials, dust and noise. Required to operate equipment such as mowers and tractors safely, and following established precautions. Routinely required to work under inclement weather conditions.
The successful candidate must be a Wiyot citizen and will possess the ability to perform in a professional manner at all times, and must be able to take direction well. Salary DOE
