The Wiyot Child Care Development Program
The Wiyot tribe continues to work with other child care centers, family providers, group home providers, and Humboldt Child Care Council to assure coordination of delivery of service to improve the quality of child care and share information. Through this program the tribe is able to maintain a childcare subsidy program.
This childcare subsidy program offers vouchers to eligible families to help make childcare more affordable. To qualify for this program your child or children must be under age 13; (special needs up to 19) or under court supervision or protective services; living with a parent who is working or seeking employment or is enrolled in an education program or job training. TANF participants are eligible for other childcare services through TANF. You must also meet low income criteria, and the child must be an enrolled member of the Tribe.
Who is eligible?
The Wiyot Tribe provides child care vouchers to income eligible tribal member families. Tribal members and reservation residents are eligible for child care referrals, parenting classes and other activities that will improve the quality of child care. Funding for this program is through the department of Health and Human Services Administrations for Children and Families. Funding is limited and is offered on a first come first served basis.
